Project Description
Located on the site of the Bradford & Bingley Building Society, the new store at Lidl Bingley is situated on a prestigious location in the historic town of Bingley.
The project comprised geotechnical remediation of the extensive relict substructures, design and agreement of SUDS drainage, development of highway retaining structure to accommodate the car park layout and implementation of a non-standard store which included planning driven approach to elevations.
Project Challenges
Partial demolition of the multi-storey BBBS head office resulted in extensive concrete obstructions within the footprint of the proposed Lidl store. Working with the contractor, MP developed a geotechnical remediation proposal to retain low level obstructions and provide a reinforced soil capping arrangement to found the store.
Highway retaining walls to the northern car park boundary were agreed with the local Authority via AIP process.
